How to do big things with small kids, with Jenny Nielsen from Wasatch Wild Child
Today’s guest Jenny Nielsen doesn’t let big mileage or big vertical scare her away from attempting big peaks with her awesome 5-year-old. She really believes that kids can do hard things, and as you can see from her awesome Instagram account, her kid is walking proof of that. As far as Jenny can tell, at just 5 years old, her kid is the youngest person to have summitted King’s Peak, the highest peak in Utah at 13,534 ft (4,125m).
Today we talk about how (and why) she does it all. Tune in to hear:
- How Jenny got started hiking with her kid
- How they have gradually moved on to bigger, harder, longer hikes
- Why it’s so important for Jenny to connect to other adventure loving moms
- The tricks and tips she uses to motivate her kid to keep going
